It will not do everything a person does — it has no judgement about your business and it cannot pick up the phone. But the admin half, the half nobody enjoys, it does for a fraction of any of this.
The plan is the floor, not the whole bill — credits are on top, and what they come to depends on how much you hand it.

How the pricing works
There are two parts, and the second one only matters if you use your worker a lot.
1. A monthly price for the server
This is the plan you pick. It pays for your own private server, your worker running on it around the clock, and the space to keep your files and conversations. It never changes unless you change your plan.
2. AI credits for the thinking
Your worker spends a little credit each time it thinks, searches the web, or does something in one of your apps. Every plan includes free credits each month — from $2 on Basic up to $30 on Max. Everyday email, calendar and reminder work fits comfortably inside the Basic allowance.
What can actually appear on your card
Your plan, every month
The price on the card you picked. It does not change unless you change plan.
Auto top-up — on by default
So your worker never stops mid-job, it tops itself up by $10 when credit drops below $1, capped at $50 a month. That cap is per worker, so if you run more than one, they each have their own. You can lower it, change the amount, or switch it off entirely in Billing — including before you use it once.
A 5% fee on top-ups
Whether you top up yourself or leave auto top-up on. Pay $10 and $9.52 of credit lands. That is the card fee and the handling.
That is the complete list. Nothing else is ever charged without you pressing something.
Free AI credits included each month
- Basic$2/mo
- Plus$5/mo
- Pro$15/mo
- Max$30/mo
Everyday use fits inside these. If you go past, you can top up — and you will be warned well before you run out.
What happens when the free credits run out?
You get a warning once 80% of the month's credits are used, both on the billing page and beside your worker. Your worker carries on answering until the credit reaches zero, then waits until you top it up.
Do unused credits roll over?
The free monthly credits reset at the start of each billing period and do not roll over. Credits you buy on top are different — those never expire, and they are only spent once the month's free credits are gone.
How does topping up work?
You can add $10, $25, $50, or $100 whenever you like. Auto top-up is switched on for a new worker so it never goes quiet on you: your card is charged $10 whenever that worker drops below $1 of credit, up to $50 a month. The cap is per worker, not per account — two workers with auto top-up on can reach $100 between them. You can change the amount, change the cap, or switch it off entirely in Billing.
Why does one job cost more than another?
You choose how much thinking power your worker uses, and the lighter settings cost a fraction of the heavier ones. A quick question can stay on the cheap setting; a long piece of research can be given the strong one. You can change it per conversation.
Is there a fee on top-ups?
Top-ups carry a 5% processing margin, whether you add credit yourself or leave auto top-up on. Pay $10 and $9.52 of credit lands on your worker.
Can I change plan later?
Yes. Change a seat's tier, update your card, or cancel a seat from Manage billing in your dashboard, at any time.
Are credits covered by the money-back guarantee?
No, and it is worth being clear about that. The guarantee refunds your plan — the server and the subscription. Credits your worker has already spent are not refundable, because that money has already gone on doing the work you asked for. Credits you bought but have not used are not refunded either, but they never expire, so they are still there if you come back.
Every price and credit figure on this page is the one you will see in your billing dashboard.
Your credits, your call
You decide how hard it thinks
Every conversation has a setting for how much thinking power to use. Most jobs do not need the big one, and you can change it whenever you like — it is a per-conversation switch, not a plan you are locked into.
It is a per-conversation switch. Change it for one job and it goes back afterwards — there is nothing to commit to.
A footnote for the curious: writing costs a little more than reading, so a worker skimming a long thread is cheaper than one producing a long document. Which model you pick matters considerably more than either.
- LightCheapest of the three
- BalancedA few times a light one
- StrongDearest of the three
Writing, planning, joining things up.
The everyday setting, and the one to leave it on. It writes in your voice, follows a few steps in a row, and works across several of your apps without losing the thread.
- “Draft a reply saying Friday works”
- “Summarise this thread and tell me what was agreed”
- “Move my 3pm and let everyone know”

Hermes
Recommendedby Nous ResearchThe same idea as OpenClaw, built for servers from the start. Hermes comes from Nous Research and was designed for exactly this — a worker that lives on a server and acts on your behalf — so the safety is built into the structure rather than bolted on. It asks before the things worth asking about, and it learns your routines so it does them the same way twice.
- Chat, browsing, files, and code
- Layered permission and approval checks
- Remembers how it did a job, and repeats it properly
Start here. It is the one we recommend and the one we would put you on.
OpenClaw
The wilder oneopen sourceThe original of the two, with a huge community behind it, built around a browser it drives itself. Hand it something long and messy and it will go away and grind through it. More freedom than Hermes, and correspondingly more rope.
- Drives a browser on its own
- Good at long, multi-step jobs
- Files and code, same as Hermes
Pick this if you want it grinding through something while you do other work.
Worth knowing before you pick it
OpenClaw is built to go off and act on its own, which is exactly why it is good at long jobs — and exactly why it needs a little more supervision. It can click the wrong thing on a website, or take an instruction further than you meant. Give it the connections it needs and no more, check its work on anything that matters, and start it on something low-stakes while you get a feel for it. Hermes is the quieter, more predictable one.
Not sure? Start with Hermes. You can create the other one later, or run both.
Nothing to lose by trying

What it covers. The refund covers your plan — the server and the subscription. AI credits your worker has already spent are not refundable, because that work has already been done.
